Your new puppy is adorable with all that cuddly fur but unfortunately they do not stay this fluffy and he may need to see a professional groomer sooner than you think. Many pet owners delay this event until five to eight months of age, when this loveable puppy’s coat is a tangled mass of curls. By this time your puppy is well-developed and his coat has changed from soft puppy hair to the coarser coat of an adult.
The unhappy result is your poor pet ends up with a short trim...not at all what you expected for your cutie puppy. Puppy isn’t happy either because his first visit is not all that pleasant. Let’s avoid all this by introducing your puppy to grooming earlier.

When your puppy is just six to eight weeks, toenails are sharp, hair is accumilating around the genitals, eyes and ears of long coated breeds causing matting and odour problems.

The earlier your puppy has his first groom the better as you will probably be able to decide what sort of trim you want enabling most pedigreed puppies to keep that terrific fuzzy puppy look.However, the greatest benefit to your puppy is he will realise grooming is a pleasant experience and he will learn to accept the brush and comb as easily as a new toy.Grooming is an essential part of your dog’s life to ensure he is happy and content, a healthy coat and skin go along way to help with this.
